Official Certification of Veteran Owned Small Business Status
Jessup, MD— March 11, 2019 — Today, FiberPlus, Inc. announced the formal certification by the Veteran’s Administration as a Veteran Owned Small Business or VOSB.
“We have been in business over 27 years and have now taken the important step to identify and certify our company in it’s true form, a Veteran Owned small business here in the Mid-Atlantic region” said Carl Strobel, CEO and founder at FiberPlus, Inc.. Carl is a veteran who completed his service with the US Navy after 21 years with a retiring rank of Commander. He received several honors for his Naval Service including the Combat Action Ribbon and Air Medal for combat support fights over North Vietnam. He founded FiberPlus, Inc in February 1992.
VOSB Certification
The VOSB designation by the Veteran’s Administration certifies that a small business is majority owned and managed by a veteran who is directly involved with the running of the business. A VOSB certified business is given top priority for government contracts and subcontracting opportunities via the Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Act of 1999. The federal government is required to award over 20% of all contracts to small veteran businesses. And according to the National Veteran-Owned Business Association, 70% of Americans would prefer to purchase services and products from veteran-owned businesses.
