The Hickory Ridge Building at the Howard County Community College will now have a faster, more reliable PONS phone system.
On November 18th, FiberPlus, Inc. of Jessup was awarded an exclusive contract by the Howard Community College Board of Trustees to install a Passive Optical Network System (PONS) in the Hickory Ridge Building on the Howard Community College Campus. The installation of this system is monumental for both Howard Community College and FiberPlus, Inc. The new PONS system will upgrade the voice and data communications in the Hickory Ridge Building for Howard Community College, making telecommunications faster and saving the college money and energy. FiberPlus is excited to be working for Howard Community College on this important job.
An initial design meeting will be held on the Howard Community College campus to determine how the PONS system will be installed and integrated onto the campus. After the design process is completed, FiberPlus, Inc. will retrofit the existing fiber optic cabling between the Hickory Ridge building and the Network Operations Center in the Clark Library Building and replace existing terminated fiber optic cabling. We’ll also be responsible for every integration aspect of the newly-constructed PONS network, including connections, configuration, and uplink verifications. After installing, we’ll measure the optical output and ensure that it matches our requirements.
